30 Americans is a traveling art exhibit that showcases the work of some of the most important and groundbreaking African American artists of the past three decades. The client and host of the exhibit was the Cincinnati Art Museum. Historically a more conservative institution for fine art, they were looking for the best way to feature a show with a provocative subject matter that focused on racial, sexual and historical identity while connecting with far wider contemporary audience.
We embraced the opportunity to create community and become a bridge between a traditional fine art community and the art newcomers by developing an exhibition identity that featured a bold and ever changing logo that would highlight the beautiful works in the collection and the powerful artistic legacy, while elevating the conversation between artist and our community as a whole. It’s always a great day when you can collaborate with artist Nick Cave.
